An aircraft is a flying machine by gaining support from the air.

It is using either an airfoil or jet engines. The human activity and support around aircrafts is called aviation. Crewed aircraft are flown by pilots.

Aircraft must find a way to fight against the gravity. This is easy for aircraft lighter than air.

All other aircraft have to use machines, which push down materials (mostly air) to lift the aircraft into the opposite direction.
